Iulia Popovici (RO)

Iulia Popovici (1979, Suceava) is a performing arts critic, editor and curator based in Bucharest. Currently working for Observator cultural magazine in Bucharest. A graduate from the University of Bucharest, Department of Letters (BA in Romanian and Latin Studies, 2002), she pursued her studies at the National University of Theatre and Film (UNATC), Bucharest, Department of Theatre (MFA in Playwriting, 2006), and is now a PhD student in Theatre Studies at the Arts University, Tîrgu Mureş/ Márosvásárhely, where she coordinates the translation workshop for MA students in Playwriting. Writes regularly for different Romanian publications (Scena.ro, Long April – Texts about Art, Criticatac etc.), has contributed to various international publications (Dialog, UBU, Szinház etc.) and given lectures on Romanian theatre in New York, Vienna, Warsaw, Krakow, Brussels.
