Attila Szabó

theatrologist, organizer of the conference

Born in 1983 as an ethnic Hungarian in Transylvania, moved to Hungary in 1999 with his family. Graduated at the Theatre Faculty of the University of Pannonia (Veszprém) in 2006 receiving a degree in both theatre studies and English language and literature. Worked as teacher of English language, costume history and classical guitar and presently is the coordinator of the International Department at the Hungarian Theatre Museum and Institute in Budapest. Member of an international research group on theatre systems and theatre sociology (STEP), has been the professional organizer of several international academic meetings on the contemporary theatre phenomena in Central Europe (at the Theatre Institute and the Contemporary Drama Festival Budapest). Published articles in Hungarian and international theatre magazines (Theatron, Symbolon), written a book chapter and edited a two-volume book titled Theatre After the Change, and regularly works as a translator of academic texts. Hungarian coordinator of several international projects on digital theatre history (ECLAPEuropean Collected Library of Artistic Performance, TACETheatre Architecture in Central Europe). Presently he is finalizing a PhD in theatre at the University of Pécs. Research topics: theatre and Coming to Terms with the Past, theatre and drama history in Central Europe, social functioning of theatre, theatre and conversation.
